Coastal Retreat
From Accra we will travel to a beautiful coastal village. In this second phase of the program the emphasis will be on creating new work. To that end, evening activities will include a participant-led reading. In addition to leading the workshop, the faculty will be available for individual consultations with participants.
When not writing, participants can relax on the beach or meet local residents for a taste of Ghanaian village life. Performances of traditional Ghanaian music and dance and visits to the region’s historical sites—including castles which were the final holding points for slaves before their transatlantic passage—are some of the highlights during our coastal stay.
