The International Artists' And Writers' Workshops
The IAWW specializes in singular international “edu-ventures” for small groups of artists, writers and other creatively minded people. Our trips are structured for people who want to take unforgettable journeys to remote destinations, freeing themselves in the process to experience creative breakthroughs, both aesthetically and personally. Our trips feature only the best food, most authentic and comfortable accommodations, varied itineraries and stimulating classes taught by award-winning artists, amidst beautiful settings.
The five IAWW trip essentials
Discovery: Literary and artistic discovery of new techniques, personal discovery engendered through contact with other cultures and the process of creating new work, and the discovery of creativity itself—are IAWW hallmarks. With an array of activities, classes and excursions to choose from, dullness is not an option.
Learning: The IAWW is a way for people to travel to remote destinations and experience diverse cultures while honing their own artistic practice without risk. Whether tasting a savory local stew or successfully revising a piece of writing, participants will be able to try things for the first time, in a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.
Culture: Our programs highlight the best of the cultures in which we operate. In Ghana, for example, the IAWW commitment to its Ghanaian-ness is reflected in everything from the choice of African-style accommodations to cultural shows and excursions to see local artists and craftspeople in action. Participants experience the culture from an insider’s point of view.
Relaxation: The IAWW creates a sense of peaceful efficiency, allowing participants to relax. The blend of contact with local culture, workshops and time to work on one’s art offers a unique space for people to unwind and be receptive to new experiences.
Community: Infused with a spirit of friendship, our programs transform strangers into a supportive community of artists whose bonds extend beyond the trip’s end.
